The WSC Madrid Girls Team had a very successful 2009/2010 Season. After finishing as co-1st place winners in the Northern Counties “C” Flight in the Fall 2009, the Madrid team went on to win 1st place in two indoor winter tournaments. In Spring 2010, the league moved Madrid up in flight status, and Madrid went on to win 1st place in the Northern Counties “B” flight with a record of 8 - 1 - 1. Madrid’s success is directly related to the players’ dedication to improve their technical skills at an early age. The team has grown in skill and ability year after year, which is a testament to the players’ love of the game, commitment, and drive to succeed. The Madrid team is expected to be advanced to the highly competitive “A” flight status in the Fall 2010.
The team plays a ball control style of game and is coached and trained by Jonathan Valdes, a USSF National Licensed Coach and a standing member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Coach Jonathan played collegiately at Ramapo College of NJ, was a (4) year High School Varsity Letterman at Wayne Valley High School where he was Team Captain and was voted MVP, awarded All-State North Honorable Mention, All County, All Area, and All-Passaic status. Coach Jonathan was a (3) time US Olympic Development selection for the NJ North Area pool, was a member of the Red Bulls U20 and Metro Stars U18 men’s Super-Y-League teams, and played in the highly competitive MAPS and the US Region I Directors League.
Congratulations to all the girls on a successful 2009/2010 season! More importantly, your hard work and dedication to the game is evident. It is truly a pleasure to watch you play, develop as a team, and improve your individual skills.
