Tournament Rules

1. AGE AND ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to accept teams U-8 through U-14 composed of eighteen or less players meeting the age limit of the listed age grouping. U-8 - U-10 teams may roster a maximum of fourteen players. Players must be born during or subsequent to the years indicated for the age group in which they are playing. Proof of age for all roster players is required in the form of current approved player passes.

2. ROSTER

A final and complete roster must be submitted to the Field Director at registration. Only players listed on the roster will be permitted to participate in the tournament.

3. LAWS OF THE GAME

All games shall be played in accordance with the FIFA Laws of the Game and NJSYSA State Cup Laws, except as specifically modified by these rules.

4. MODIFICATIONS TO LAWS OF THE GAME

A. LENGTH OF GAME—All games will consist of two (2) twenty-five (25) minute halves. No overtime will be played, with the exception of playoff games. For U-8 - U-10 teams all ties stand, no overtime or shootouts, according to rules adopted by the NJYSA.

B. SUBSTITUTION

Unlimited substitutions of rostered players at the following times with the permission of the referee:

1. After a goal is scored.

2. At the beginning of the second half.

3. At the time of a goal kick by either team.

4. At the time of a throw-in, provided that the substituting team has possession.

5. At the referee’s discretion in the event of any injury.  The opposing team will be allowed an equal number of substitutions.

5. PLAYER EQUIPMENT

Where the colors of the competing jerseys are identical or similar in the opinion of the referee, the designated home team will change their colors. The home team is the first team listed in the game schedule.

6. REGISTRATION

Registration will take place at Schuyler-Colfax Junior High School on Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne on Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00. Rosters, player passes, permission to travel forms if needed and medical releases will be checked at this time.

7. FAILURE TO SHOW

A. All games will start precisely at the scheduled time. There will be no grace period. A team not prepared to play at the kick-off, will forfeit to their opponent.

B. Forteiture will disqualify a team from championship qualification. The next team eligible will replace the disqualified team.

C. A game forfeited will be declared a 3-0 score.

8. INCLEMENT WEATHER

A. In the event of inclement weather, all teams must report to their fields at their assigned time.

B. WSC will refund 80% of entry fee if entire tournament is cancelled due to inclementweather.

C. The Tournament Committee shall have the authority to either relocate, reschedule, or cancel a game. In addition, they shall have authority to change the duration of any game.

D. Any game terminated after the start of play will be considered as complete. The score at the time of termination will be regarded as the official score.

9. TOURNAMENT SCORING

Teams will be awarded three (3) points for a win, and one (1) point for a tie. If this results in a tie upon the completion of the regularly scheduled game, the tie shall be broken in accordance with the following sequence of rules:

A. Head-to-head play. Omit when a three-way tie exists.

B. Goals against.

C. Net of total goals scored less total goals against. In no event shall the net difference per game be greater than three (3).

D. Total goals scored up to three (3) per game.

E. In the case where crossover games are played, the results of the crossover game will be used, then use B C and D of the crossover game.

F. Kicks from the penalty mark. (sudden death)

10. LINE PERSONS

It may be necessary for each team to provide a line person for one side of the playing field, as required by the referee.

11. CONDUCT

A. Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to conduct themselves with the spirit of the law, as well as the letter of the law. Display of offensive language, temper or dissent is cause for ejection from the game and field of play. Coaches shall be responsible for the conduct of all persons on their team, and those supporting their team.

B. Players, coaches and team officials ejected from a game shall be automatically suspended for the following game and may be suspended for the remaining games as determined by the Tournament Committee.

12. AWARDS

A. Particiapation Awards will be provided to all U10 and under players.

B. Trophies will be provided to U11, U12, U13 and U14, 1st and 2nd place finishers.

C. A MVP award to the player of the match for all championship games will also be awarded.

D. All teams are requested to trade patches or pins with opponents at the completion of every game.

13. PROTESTS

No protests will be accepted

14. Championship Games

The rules and length of the game will remain the same for championship games except if there is a tie score at the end of regulation. The teams will play a 5 minute overtime period, if still tied at the end of overtime period each team will remove the goal keeper and 1 field player and play an additional 5 minutes or until one team scores, whichever comes first. If still tied, 2 more field players will be dropped and one more 5-minute sudden death period will be played. If there is still no winner the outcome will be determined by kicks from the penalty mark according to FIFA rules.

15.Golf Cart Policy

Anyone operating a Golf cart must have a valid NJ Drivers License at the Tournament.
